Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021
Friday June 25, 2021
They are the ones coming out of the great tribulation; they have washed their long robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 7:14).
Isaiah 65: 21-23 describes what life will be like on Earth. God's servants will not spend time doing nothing. Rather, the Bible indicates that they will do useful and rewarding work. We can be sure that when that period is over, "creation itself will also be freed from slavery to corruption and will have the glorious freedom of the children of God" (Rom. 8:21). Jehovah saw to it that the Israelites had time to work and rest, and he will do the same for his servants during Christ's Thousand Year Reign. There is no doubt that they will be able to dedicate time to spiritual activities. Just like today, too
In the new world, the worship of God will be fundamental to achieve happiness. All faithful human beings will be happy because they will have rewarding work and will serve Jehovah. w19.12 12 par. fifteen; 13 paras. 17, 18
What do we humans need to be liberated from?
We all need to be set free because we are slaves to sin. As a consequence, we grow old, get sick, and die. We realize this cruel slavery when we look in a mirror or have to go to the doctor because we are sick. We are also distressed when we commit sins. The apostle Paul recognized that he was a “prisoner of the law of sin” that was in his body. And he added: “How unhappy I am! Who will free me from the body that is suffering this death? " (Rom. 7:23, 24).
What did Isaiah predict about freedom?
Happily, Jehovah prepared a way for us to be freed from sin. The role of Jesus in that liberation is fundamental. In the eighth century BC, the prophet Isaiah predicted a great future deliverance. That great deliverance would accomplish much more than the one that occurred during the Jubilee. He wrote: “The spirit of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah is upon me, because Jehovah anointed me to preach good news to the meek ones. He sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom to the captives ”(Isa. 61: 1). Let's see who this prophecy is talking about.
To whom does Isaiah's prophecy of a deliverance refer?
That important prophecy about a deliverance began to be fulfilled after Jesus began his ministry. When he went to the synagogue in the city of Nazareth, where he had grown up, he read that same prophecy from Isaiah to the Jews gathered there. Then he applied the following words to himself: “Jehovah's spirit is upon me, because he anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He sent me to proclaim freedom for the captives and recovery of sight for the blind, to set freedom for the oppressed, to preach the acceptable year of Jehovah ”(Luke 4: 16-19). How did Jesus fulfill this prophecy?
