“You have rescued me, O Jehovah, the God of truth” (Ps. 31:5).
1. According to Psalm 31:2-5, why can we trust in Jehovah?
We live in Satan's world. Lies, deceit, and betrayal are commonplace. Sometimes it can be difficult to know who to trust. For example, some business owners cheat their competitors. Furthermore, we are surrounded by deceptive advertising. And some have found that they can't even trust their friends, because they don't keep their word. But how different Jehovah is! He is “the God of truth,” so we can always trust him (read Psalm 31:2-5). Truth is an essential part of his personality, and we see that in everything he says and does. Jehovah is 100 percent trustworthy!
2. What will we see in this article?
2 In this article we will analyze some reasons why we can trust Jehovah with all our heart. Then we will see what the God of truth will do to destroy Satan and his evil world, and what He is doing in our day to accomplish His purpose. All of this will help us to be brave and to speak the truth without fear.
REASONS TO TRUST IN THE GOD OF TRUTH
3. Why can we trust Jehovah completely?
3 We can trust Jehovah because he is the Creator. He made the heavens, the earth, and all living things (Gen. 1:1; Ps. 36:9; Rev. 4:11). Furthermore, He created the Earth with the necessary resources to ensure that life will always exist on it. He has absolutely everything under control and always will. Since Jehovah is very wise and has infinite power, we can put our lives and our future in his hands with complete confidence.
4. How do we know that Jehovah loves us?
4 We can trust Jehovah because he loves us. He created human beings because he wanted to share with them the wonderful gift of life. Furthermore, he created us in his “image and likeness” (Gen. 1:26). He gave us freedom of choice and a beautiful home in which to live. (Ps. 115:16). He gave Adam and Eve the exciting task of expanding Paradise (Gen. 1:28; 2:15). He told them they could use everything on the planet to be happy and enjoy life. It is clear that “Jehovah’s loyal love [...] is for all eternity” (Ps. 103:17).
5. (a) How did Jehovah keep his word even though Adam and Eve sinned? (b) What are some promises that Jehovah has kept? (See the box “Jehovah Is Faithful to His Word”).
5 We can trust Jehovah because he always keeps his word. When he made the Earth, his purpose was "for it to be inhabited"; he "did not create it simply for nothing" (Isaiah 45:18, 19). But when Adam and Eve rebelled, they were condemned to death. What then would happen to God’s purpose? Would it fail? Impossible! Nothing can prevent Jehovah from doing what he purposes (Isaiah 46:10, 11). His purpose for Earth remained unchanged: He wanted it to be filled with righteous human beings. That is why He allowed Adam and Eve to have children and sent Jesus to rescue Adam's descendants and give them the wonderful opportunity to live forever. (Juan 3:16).
The God of Truth makes sure His purpose is fulfilled.
6. What did Jehovah foretell after the rebellion in Eden?
6 Who tempted Adam and Eve to rebel against God? “The original serpent, whom they call the Devil and Satan.” (Rev. 12:9; Gen. 3:4, 5; John 8:44). When Jehovah pronounced his judgment against him, he foretold that he would be destroyed (Gen. 3:15). He also indicated that before that time came, many would follow Satan and act like him. However, there would be those who would faithfully obey Jehovah.
7. Who follows the Devil, and what awaits them?
7 Who follows Satan, the Devil? The angels who have rebelled against Jehovah and disobedient humans. Like Satan, they oppose God's purpose, and therefore they are part of his offspring. But Jehovah has set the time to destroy Satan and all who side with him. (Dan. 2:44; Rom. 16:20).
8. What did Jesus do in 1914? (See also the pictures).
8 Why are we absolutely certain that Jehovah will fulfill his promise to destroy Satan and his followers? Consider the following. In 1914, Jehovah appointed Jesus as King, and Jesus began to fight against Satan and his demons. Since they lost, they were hurled down to the earth (Rev. 12:7-9). Although this war took place in heaven, its effects are more than evident on earth. Since 1914, Satan has focused his efforts on getting as many people as possible to follow him. As a result, the world situation has gone from bad to worse. With good reason the Bible says: “Woe to the earth and the sea! For the Devil has come down to you in fury, because he knows that his time is short” (Rev. 12:12). But Jesus will soon finish what he began in 1914 and “complete his victory.” He will eliminate Satan and his supporters (Rev. 6:2). He will vindicate Jehovah’s name once and for all, and it will become clear that Jehovah is the God of truth. (Ps. 45:4-6; Ezek. 38:23).

Since 1914, the world situation has worsened. (See paragraph 8).
The God of Truth gathers those who love the truth.
9. Whom is Jehovah gathering today?
9 Meanwhile, Jehovah is gathering together “all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth” (Eph. 1:10). The expression “things in the heavens” refers to the anointed ones, whom Jehovah has chosen to reign with Christ in heaven. And the expression “things on earth” refers to those who will live forever in a paradise on earth. All these servants of Jehovah keep very busy helping others to know the truth and showing that Satan is a liar.
10. What is Jehovah doing to free people from religious lies? (Revelation 14:6, 7)
10 How is Jehovah gathering people who love the truth? Through the greatest preaching campaign in history (read Revelation 14:6, 7). Although it uses humans to carry the message of the good news, angels also share in the work of gathering sincere people into the congregation. Thanks to preaching, the lies about Jehovah that Satan has spread for centuries through Babylon the Great, the collection of the world's false religions, are exposed. (Apoc. 18:2, 4). Soon, false religions will be completely eliminated, and those who love the God of truth will give Him the glory He so richly deserves. (Apoc. 17:16).
11. How can we identify Jehovah's true servants?
11 Jehovah brings to his people people from different cultures, backgrounds and economic levels (Rev. 7:9, 10). When they hear “the good news,” they realize they have found the truth and gladly join God’s people. (Mark 13:10). Over time, it becomes increasingly clear who serves God as he wants and who does not. The prophet Malachi foretold: “You will again see the difference between someone righteous and someone wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.” (Mal. 3:18). By their conduct and their preaching, Jehovah's servants demonstrate that they worship the God of truth.
12. How does preaching contribute to the fulfillment of Jehovah's purpose?
12 By preaching “the good news of the Kingdom,” we obey Jesus’ command and participate in the fulfillment of a prophecy.(Matt. 24:14; 28:18-20). Thanks to this work, men and women all over the world become followers of Jesus and have the hope of worshipping the God of truth forever. In this way, we are doing our part to help Jehovah's purpose be fulfilled. What a great honor!
LET'S LOOK TO THE FUTURE WITH CONFIDENCE
13. Who are Satan's primary targets, and why?
13 Satan is furious because he knows that "he has little time left" before his world is destroyed. (Rev. 12:12, 13). Who are the Devil's primary targets? The anointed ones, “who obey God’s commandments and have the mission of bearing witness about Jesus” (Rev. 12:17; 14:12). And Satan also attacks those who support them.
14. What will happen after Satan attacks God's people? (See also the picture.)
14 After the destruction of Babylon the Great, those who support Satan will attack God's people with all their might. As a result, the war of Armageddon will begin. (Apoc. 16:13, 14, 16). Jesus and his heavenly army will rescue Jehovah’s servants and completely destroy all that remains of Satan’s world (Rev. 19:19-21). All the wicked and liars will disappear (Rev. 21:8). The whole world will know that God is just and always speaks the truth.

15. Why can we look to the future with confidence? (Isaiah 65:16, 17; see also the picture.)
15 Today, the world is more divided than ever. But with Jehovah’s help, his servants remain united. He is gathering together those who love the truth, and nothing can prevent him from blessing his people and the work they do. (Read Isaiah 65:16, 17). We look to the future with confidence. The words of the apostle Paul found in Romans 8:38, 39 assure us: “Neither death nor life, neither angels nor governments, neither things present nor things to come, neither powers, neither height nor depth, nor any other creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

In the new world, the problems of today will not be remembered. (See paragraph 15).
16. Why do you trust in Jehovah with all your heart?
16 We have countless reasons to trust in Jehovah, the God of truth. He is our Creator. He loves us deeply. He ensures that the great multitude grows ever larger and that people from all nations unite in pure worship. (Is. 60:22; Zac. 8:23). Jehovah makes sure that his purpose is always fulfilled, and we know that he will soon put an end to Satan and his terrible lies. Therefore, let us make David’s words our own: “Praise be to Jehovah God, [...] the only one who does wonderful things. Praise be to his glorious name forever, and let his glory fill all the earth” (Psalm 72:18, 19).
