Let's examine the Scriptures every day 2025

Sunday, December 7, 2025

Read it and meditate on it day and night, so that you may carefully obey everything written in it; for then it will go well for you in your way and then you will act with wisdom (Josh. 1:8).

It is good for Christian women to learn certain practical skills. Some of the things they learn as girls will be useful throughout their lives. For example, they need to learn to read and write well. In some cultures, it is not considered important for women to do so, but these are essential skills for every Christian (1 Tim. 4:13). So, if you are a young Christian woman, do not let anything prevent you from learning to read and write well. What will the benefits be? For one thing, it will be easier for you to find and keep a job and earn a living. For another, you will be able to be a better student and teacher of God’s Word. But best of all, by reading and meditating on the Bible, you will strengthen your friendship with Jehovah (1 Tim. 4:15).

What does Proverbs 31:26 teach you?

Learn to communicate well with others. This is a vital skill for all Christians. The disciple James gave us practical advice on this: “Be quick to listen, but slow to speak” (James 1:19). Listening attentively when someone speaks to you is a way of showing empathy (1 Peter 3:8). If you are unsure whether you understand what someone is saying or how they feel, ask respectful questions. Then think for a moment before you respond (Proverbs 15:28, footnote). Ask yourself, “Is what I am about to say true? Is it encouraging? Is it respectful? Is it kind?” Think about mature sisters who communicate well with others and learn from them (read Proverbs 31:26). Notice what they say and how they say it. Practice this skill, and as you become more proficient, you will find that you get along better and better with others.

How can you learn to run a household?

Learn to manage a household. In many places, women do most of the housework. Perhaps your mother or another mature sister can teach you how to do it. A sister named Cindy says: “One of the most precious gifts my mother gave me was teaching me that when you work hard, you feel content with yourself. Learning to cook, clean, sew, and shop made my life easier and enabled me to do more for Jehovah. Mom also taught me to be hospitable, and because of that, I met wonderful brothers and sisters from whom I learned a lot.” (Prov. 31:15, 21, 22) Hardworking, hospitable women who know how to manage a household are a blessing to their families and to the congregation. (Prov. 31:13, 17, 27; Acts 16:15)

What do you learn from what Crystal says, and what should you focus on?

Learn to earn a living. All mature Christians should aim to learn to provide for themselves and be content with what they have (Phil. 4:11). A sister named Crystal explains: “When I was a teenager in school, there were a few classes I could choose from, and my parents recommended that I pick some where I would learn a practical trade. For example, my dad recommended that I learn accounting, and it was really helpful.” In addition to preparing yourself for employment, try to learn how to budget and stick to it (Prov. 31:16, 18). If you avoid unnecessary debt and are content with a simple life, you will be able to focus on your spiritual goals (1 Tim. 6:8).
