Let's examine the Scriptures every day 2025

Let us not fall asleep like the others. Let us stay awake and keep our senses (1 Thessalonians 5:6).
To stay awake and maintain good judgment, we need love (Matt. 22:37-39). For example, love for God helps us to keep preaching even when difficulties arise (2 Tim. 1:7, 8). Since we also love those who do not share our beliefs, we do our best to share our message with them, even by phone or letter. We do not give up on them. Rather, we hope that one day they will change and begin to do what is right (Ezek. 18:27, 28).
We also love our brothers and show it by encouraging and building one another up (1 Thess. 5:11). We are like soldiers who fight together and support one another. We would never knowingly harm our brothers or repay evil for evil (1 Thess. 5:13, 15). Another way we show our love for our brothers is by respecting those who lead the congregation (1 Thess. 5:12).
How does love for our brothers help us? (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
Consider the congregation in Thessalonica. When Paul wrote this letter, it had been in operation for less than a year. The elders likely lacked experience and made mistakes, but they deserved respect. As the great tribulation draws near, we may need to rely even more on the congregation elders than we do now, since we may lose contact with world headquarters and the branch office and will no longer have their guidance. Therefore, it is vital that we learn now to love and respect the elders in our congregation. Whatever happens, let us maintain good judgment and not focus on their shortcomings. Rather, let us remember that Jehovah is using Christ to guide these faithful men.
How does hope protect our thoughts?
Just as a helmet protects a soldier’s head, the hope of salvation protects our thoughts. Because we keep our hope so present in our minds, we consider what this world offers to be worthless (Phil. 3:8). Hope also calms our hearts and gives us stability. That is what happened to Wallace and Laurinda, who are serving in Africa. In just three weeks, one lost his father and the other his mother. And they were unable to return home to be with their families because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He wrote: “The resurrection hope helps me a lot. I don’t think about how they were in their last days in this world, but about how they will be in their first days in the new world. Thanks to this hope, I feel more at peace. The sadness of having lost them is more bearable.”
What can we do to receive holy spirit from Jehovah?
“Do not quench the fire of the spirit” (1 Thess. 5:19). Paul likened the holy spirit to a fire burning within us. Thanks to that spirit, we are filled with zeal and have the desire to do what is right and the strength to work hard for Jehovah (Rom. 12:11). What can we do to receive holy spirit from Jehovah? We can ask him, study his Word, and be united with his organization. If we do these things, we will cultivate “the fruitage of the spirit” (Gal. 5:22, 23).
