Let us examine the Scriptures every day 2024

Many women used their possessions to care for them (Luke 8:3).

Jesus freed Mary Magdalene from seven demons. She must have been very grateful. She became a follower of Christ and supported him during his ministry (Luke 8:1–3). Although Mary appreciated what Jesus had done for her personally, she may not have fully understood the immense gift he would soon offer. Jesus would give his life so that anyone who demonstrated faith in him would receive eternal life (John 3:16). Still, Mary showed her gratitude through her loyalty. When Jesus was nailed to the tree, she stood nearby to support Jesus and others who were present (John 19:25). And when Jesus was in the tomb, Mary and two other women brought spices to apply to Jesus’ body (Mark 16:1, 2). What joy Mary felt when she saw the resurrected Jesus and was able to talk with him! That was an honor very few disciples had (John 20:11-18). w23.01 27 par. 4.

How can we show our gratitude for all that Jehovah and Jesus have done for us?

We, too, can show our appreciation for all that Jehovah and Jesus have done for us. How? By using our time, energy, and financial resources to promote Kingdom activities. For example, we can volunteer to help with the construction and maintenance of the buildings we use to worship Jehovah.

Why do we say that the rescue is a gift for each of us?

When we think of the great love Jehovah and Jesus have for us, we are moved to love them too. (1 John 4:10, 19) And we love them even more when we realize that Jesus died for each of us. The apostle Paul was grateful for this gift. So in his letter to the Galatians, he wrote: “The Son of God . . . loved me and gave himself for me.” (Gal. 2:20) Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, Jehovah drew you to be his friend. (John 6:44) Doesn’t it warm your heart to know that Jehovah saw something good in you and paid the highest price possible to befriend you? Doesn’t that fill you with love for Jehovah and Jesus? So we can all ask ourselves, “What will move me to do that love?”

As seen in the photograph, what can we all do to show that we love Jehovah and Jesus? (2 Corinthians 5:14, 15; 6:1, 2)

Our love for God and Christ moves us to love others. (Read 2 Corinthians 5:14, 15; 6:1, 2.) One way we show this is by enthusiastically preaching to everyone—without exception. We preach to people of all races, cultures, and social and economic backgrounds. In this way, we work with Jehovah, “for it is his will that all people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of the truth.”—1 Tim. 2:4.

How can we show that we love our brothers?

Another way we show that we love God and Christ is by loving our brothers and sisters (1 John 4:21). For example, we care personally for them and help them when they are going through difficult times. We comfort them when they lose a loved one, visit them when they are sick, and do everything in our power to encourage them when they are feeling down (2 Cor. 1:3–7; 1 Thess. 5:11, 14). We also pray for them, because we know that “the prayer of a righteous man has great effect” (James 5:16).
